Let's get started
Thanks for being here. It's just a bit of fun, it's just a bit of fashion, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do writing it. Oh and don't forget to subscribe (am I doing this right??)
Ladies and Gentleman I present to you - something thread on the tube. Or while your lunch is in the microwave at work. Or while you’re having your slow weekend breakfast - trying to stay off social media, but still succumbing to the urge to check your phone for … something. I hope I can scratch that itch and fill your in-between moments with some articles about fashion I’ve been loving, mostly seen on the streets of London. Ok intros over - here’s my first post.
Colourful Leather Can Look Really Good
I think colourful leather is having a moment, and I’m really happy for it. It’s been collecting dust since the 80’s so it’s time we showed it some love.
Big Red Bag
Consider this - Postman chic. Give it a minute, you’ll come around to it. A big or small red leather bag on your side could be just what your outfit needs, especially for the chronic ‘I only wear black’ people (I am she). Why stop at red? Try blue or yellow - perfect to pair with a tailored black coat and artfully messy second day hair tucked into the collar. Accessories like this make chic so easy.

Long Leather Gloves
I’d categorised leather gloves in my mind as an accessory only to be worn when driving a Jaguar E-Type through the countryside (silk scarf around head, sunglasses on) or when being a prominent figure of an Italian mob, with a clear objective to leave no fingerprints at the scene. However, they’ve recently come to light as a fun and easy way to include texture and colour to your look without overdoing it. My preference is of the longer variety. Wear scrunched down over the sleeves of a tight black turtleneck to make a statement, or peaking through a thick wool coat for an effortless injection of serotonin into your look.
Leather Trousers
Admittedly, you probably don’t want to go bright bright here. Maybe just a nod to colour - if you go out wearing canary yellow leather trousers, you may as well style it with a sandwich board saying ‘Hey guys, I’m trying something new!’ on it. If you’re a bright yellow trousers kind of person, you’ll know it already. If you’re not, it’s ok to come at it from your own angle, if at all. So proceed with caution here, but most importantly, have fun.
For darker leather trousers like these deep teal Emporio Armani ones below, style with a crisp white shirt and understated black loafer. Or this mustard yellow pair from Joseph would look great with a boxy black t-shirt and oversized sunnies.
Ok, that’s all folks. Thank you for reading my first Substack I look forward to writing more xx
